NYARC Discovery is a new research tool from the libraries of the Brooklyn Museum, The Frick Collection, and The Museum of Modern Art. It is a gateway to a trove of rich and varied materials, much of it unique, on art and cultural history spanning the spectrum from ancient Egypt to contemporary art.

Find books, exhibition catalogs, auction sale catalogs, artists' books, images, online journal articles, historical newspapers, archives, web archives, photoarchives, and more.

What is NYARC?
The New York Art Resources Consortium (NYARC) is a collaboration among the libraries of three museums in New York City: Brooklyn Museum, The Frick Collection, and The Museum of Modern Art.
What is Arcade?
Arcade is the catalog of over 1 million bibliographic records combining the holdings of the NYARC libraries, and you may already be familiar with it under another name: if you've used Brookmuse, FRESCO or DADABASE to do research, you've used Arcade.

What is not included?
While NYARC Discovery unites a subset of the consortium's available resources, it is not a comprehensive search across all our licensed content. Work continues to integrate more resources into this platform and we are encouraging content providers to participate in the Ex Libris publishing program. It is important to keep in mind that many specialized resources must still be searched on their own platform. Browse a list of all of our databases.
How can I quickly find an online journal?
Search or browse our A-Z list of journals that are available online.
Are there restrictions for accessing online resources?
Results for some licensed content are only viewable within the NYARC institutions. Museum staff may access content on site or remotely following authentication. Delivery of full-text content from our subscription databases is only available on site to public researchers. Our libraries are open to the public and we encourage researchers to visit us. If you're unable to visit us and require research help, contact us at ask@nyarc.org.
Can I find auction catalogs by the date of sale?
Yes, the date of sale can be searched in the format YYYYMMDD.

Example: 18820617
What are web archive results?
These are results from NYARC’s Web Archive Collection. A web archive is a collection of captured websites as presented on the live web in a given point in time. As web based content is ephemeral in nature, the NYARC collection focuses on making online art research materials discoverable and accessible for current and future scholarship. Learn more about the NYARC Web Archiving program.
What are photoarchive images?
Photoarchive images refer to cataloged materials available in the Frick Art Reference Library’s Photoarchive, which is a study collection of more than one million photographic reproductions of works of art from the fourth to the mid-twentieth century by artists trained in the Western tradition. Photoarchive image records contain historical information documenting the work of art depicted in the image, including changes of attribution, ownership, and condition

Images from this collection are continually being digitized. You’ll find many images available in NYARC Discovery and in the Frick Collection’s digital archive.
